Gary Caldwell

• Gary joined from Hibernian in the summer of 2006 and has largely partnered Stephen McManus in the centre of defence. But the 26-year-old has also shown his versatility, occasionally slotting in at right-back and in the role of holding midfielder.
• He had trained with Celtic as a youngster before moving to Newcastle United as a 16-year-old.
• Gary has 27 caps for Scotland and scored twice for his country, most famously against France at Hampden in September 2006 when Scotland triumphed 1-0.
• He joined Hibernian in the summer of 2004 after two previous loan spells at the Easter Road club, and he also had loan spells at Darlington, Coventry and Derby while with Newcastle.
• He made a total of 118 appearances for Hibernian, scoring seven goals, while he has netted two goals for Celtic in 76 starts and three substitute appearances.
• His last goal for the Hoops was in a 5-1 Scottish Cup win at Rugby Park in January 2008.
